The claustrophobic streets of the Lower City begin to open up as you approach the river. The sky appears again, sliver by sliver. The river itself is a dirty brown- this area is downstream of the factories. On the riverbank, you see a sprawling marketplace. You just manage to not get hit by a car as you cross the street.
The market is slightly disorienting. Crowds and workers whirl around you, each determined to complete their own business. There's no room for personal space, and rodents shove themselves through any available opening to move forward.
While there's certain to be many interesting stalls deeper into the market, there's a few near the edge that are much more accessible to you.
